Nothing is impossible…

Good morning and happy happy happy Friday!

This weather in Georgia has been absolutely glorious!

Honestly, sunshine and warmth can heal most things. I do believe!

This morning I was reading in Mark 9.

Jesus heals a demon possessed boy.

I will paraphrase the story a bit, but if you are not familiar, you can find the full version here.

A father brings his demon possessed son to the disciples for healing.

The disciples, usually able to heal, were not able to heal this boy.

They were perplexed and then brought the boy to Jesus.

Jesus becomes a little frustrated and says to them…

You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”

Eek! Those are words I would NOT want to hear from Jesus.

The father then says this…

But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” v. 22

My whole body cringes as I read this. He is literally asking Jesus IF He can??

Here is the response from Jesus…

“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” v. 23

Jesus heals the boy immediately, and the disciples, in their utter confusion, they ask Jesus why they were unable to heal the boy.

“This kind can come out only by prayer.” Jesus replies.

Some versions say…”this can only come out by prayer and fasting.”

This story just hits home so much.

I can relate to this father and his desire to believe….yet, he still struggles with fully believing that Jesus can heal his son.

His honesty is refreshing.

Even if he would have acted like he fully believed, Jesus would have seen his heart and known the truth. He sees it all.

Aren’t we sometimes, or a lot of times, like this father?

We desperately want to believe, but often it is hard!

This is where prayer comes in.

Prayer is an act of faith.

The more we use this muscle of prayer, the greater our faith and belief becomes.

It is just a fact.

The disciples may have gotten caught up with all of their gifts of healing and started forgetting to pray!

Possibly they were beginning to work out of their own strength instead of the Power of God.

Whew.

Can you relate? I sure can.

Prayer aligns us with God’s Will.

Prayer gives us His supernatural strength and abilities.

Prayer is our expression of TOTAL dependence on Jesus—not ourselves.

Friend, if your faith is small, the cure is prayer.

Small faith is where it all begins!

“I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” Matthew 17:20

Gosh, how many mountains would be moved if we committed our lives to prayer. The praying without ceasing kind of prayer.

Rejoice always,  pray without ceasing,  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Honestly, I do not think we have even scratched the surface of the Power of God in our lives.

He wants do mighty things for us, through us, and to us.

We just have to pray.

At the beginning of this year, I wrote about this year being a time to draw near to God in prayer.

The calling still stands.

Today, let’s answer the call of prayer.

Let’s be intentional about praying…unceasingly.

At the end of this year, I want to hear your stories. All of them!

Write down your prayers, pray them over and over.

Put God’s Word in your prayers, and keep praying them.

I want to hear your stories…please reach out to me and share them when God answers those prayers.

Nothing is impossible with God. Luke 1:37

back to prayer,

jill
