Just Obey…

Good morning, good morning, good morning.

Is it Friday? Gosh, I sure hope so.

What a week.

Puppy training is no joke. I am tired. I am exhausted. I need some relief.

Haha. No, but seriously, send help.

As I was taking Max on a walk and he was spinning around on his leash, I thought about how I often do the same thing.

Obedience is hard.

Max wants to go his own way, and do his own thing.

However, if he doesn’t follow my command, it can lead him to danger.

Like, snakes, rodents, and poisonous plants. Oh my!

If Max doesn’t listen to my voice and my command, he can run straight out into the road and get hit by a car.

Obedience is important.

I am learning this lesson of obedience right along with Max.

When my kids were little and I would teach them, the biggest student of the lesson would always be myself .

Through training up my kids and now my puppy, I see so many correlations in my own life of things I need to do better.

Going my own way and doing what my flesh wants me to do… can lead to serious trouble.

When I go the way of God's Voice and His commands, I find myself walking in obedience, which leads to peace.

This doesn’t mean that trouble won’t come at times, but God will be with me. His Presence right beside me because I have followed His commands.

Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart— they do no wrong but follow his ways. Psalm 119:2

It is important that we know His Word and know His commands…

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:11

However, often we do KNOW His commands. We just choose to not obey.

Eek. Stepping on my own toes.

The reason I want Max to obey is to protect him and to keep our house at peace.

The reason God desires obedience from us is the exact same. He wants to protect us from being outside of the umbrella of His will and protection.

He wants us to have peace. The peace that only can come from following His Word and commands.

He desires for us to have “life and life to the abundance!” John 10:10

Obedience brings blessing…

“See, today I am setting before you a blessing and a curse: a blessing if you obey the commandments of the LORD your God that I am giving you today, but a curse if you disobey the commandments of the LORD your God and turn aside from the path I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known.” Deuteronomy 11:26-28

God really is in all of the details, the very smallest to the very biggest, of our lives.

Don’t miss Him! Look for Him! He longs to meet you exactly where you are…this very second.

You don’t have to have it all together for Him to speak to you, to guide you and lead you.

In fact, when Jesus met Paul on the way to Damascus, Paul was an outright murderer.

Yet, Jesus knew the plans God had for Paul. Plans to prosper him and make him into an incredible evangelist and disciple!

God met Paul where he was…and then Paul followed in obedience.

Obedience is what will be the biggest factor in us having God’s excellent plan for our lives.

I want His plan…don’t you??

obedience training for me AND Max,
