This is the day…
This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
Way back in 2015, we were feeling led by God to make a move.
We had built a home for our family in 2006, and loved every ounce of our time there.
However, Lem and I both felt God was shifting us to a new place beginning early of 2015.
I always know when God is up to something because He aligns me AND Lem’s heart.
We are complete and absolute opposites, so when we are in agreement on something, it has to be God. Haha!
The move was in the same town, just in a different location, closer to the schools my kids were attending. Being about 20 miles from town, we were both ready to be closer to town where school, sports, and pretty much all of our activities took place.
Looking at many houses in that area, nothing seemed to be the right fit.
Honestly, we started to wonder if we were really being led by The Lord or if it was just a figment of our imaginations.
One day as we were on the search for a house, my friend Danielle called and said she knew of a house that was going up for sale that would be perfect for us.
A few days later, we were able to tour the home.
I prayed the whole entire two days that God would show me a sign of some sort when we found the house that we were meant to live in.
We walked into the house on College Drive that my friend had told us about and I looked to my right…
In big calligraphy letters on the kitchen wall was written…
”This is the day that the Lord has made…” Psalm 118:24
I looked at Lem and pointed out the scripture and we both knew at that moment…this was the house for us.
Soon after, we moved into that house and lived there for a very happy 8 years. The previous owner, Mary, and I became very dear friends! Double bonus!
My children spent many of their teen years in that precious house. It will forever hold some of our most cherished memories as a family.
Psalm 118:24 has taken on a whole new meaning to my heart.
When I am tempted to look too far down the road…
When I am tempted to lose joy and hope…
When I am tempted to let the enemy whisper despair and accusations in my ear…
When I am tempted to think that things will never get better…
When I am tempted to think that this prayer will never be answered…
My heart recalls this scripture…
This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
THIS is the day…not tomorrow, not yesterday, not ten years from now.
THIS is the day that The Lord has made.
We WILL rejoice and be glad in it.
It doesn’t say that we “may” or “possibly will” rejoice…
It says, we WILL rejoice and be glad!
God has so much planned for us this day…let us not get swept up in tomorrow’s plans or next years plans.
Let us also not get swept up in the past…regretting OR reminiscing about when things were different.
God has a good plan for us today.
May we live in the present with Him.
Tomorrow will come…and then that will be the day.
But as for today…
THIS is the day that The Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it!
When your heart is burdened and overwhelmed, go back to these words. Sing them over and over.
Your heart will become lighter. Your perspective will change.
Mine sure has.
this is the day the Lord has made,
