Coffee, Jesus, and Marshalls
THE coffee mug in Marshalls
Happy happy happy FUN FRIDAY!!!!
Well, for those of us in the South, snow is on the way.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Okay, I feel better. I just needed to vent for a minute….
Sunshine and warm weather is my jam. This cold weather is no fun!
On top of snow coming in, which means EVERYTHING around here will be closed all weekend, it is my birthday weekend!
All my northern friends are enjoying a good giggle at us southern people and our inability to adapt to snow. ;)
This week, I was kind of in a funk.
I had lamented to my sweet friend, Erin, and bless her heart, she listened.
She always knows what to say when I am in a place like that, and she will pray!
Not sure where the funk came from…maybe getting another year older, maybe the freezing temps…maybe just all the things.
So, to make myself feel better I went to my pilates class. I just joined a new gym and I love it! I leave feeling better than when I walked in.
Well, as I get into the class room, I am surrounded by the cutest and YOUNGEST girls ever! Little bitty tank tops on their itty bitty bodies.
Ugh.
Did I sign up for a college pilates class or something? Like, where are my over 40 people??
This particular class was a class I had not taken before so I was already feeling a bit vulnerable.
I survived the class—with all of the college aged super models—and I decided to go to Marshalls.
Maybe I just need some cuter pilates clothes. Maybe that is what will help me feel better!
As I trudged through Marshalls, I got mopier by the minute.
I tried on a few things and nothing seemed to work. UGH.
Surely, I was a sight for sore eyes. Greasy and sweaty hair, minimal make up, a coffee stained t-shirt, and my dirty ugg boots. Yay!
Coming out of the dressing room with my sad attitude and insecurities….I just happened to look over at the shelf of coffee mugs.
Staring me in the face was a coffee mug that said…
“Beauty is found within”
That’s it. That is all it said.
I almost burst into tears.
God was speaking to me…through a coffee mug!
I grabbed my phone and quickly snapped a picture because I never wanted to forget this moment.
He surely knows me.
He knows I love coffee.
He knew that would get my attention.
It did.
Immediately, I thought about the story I had just read about Hagar.
God saw Hagar alone in the wilderness and ministered to her in her great sadness.
El Roi…God who sees.
He saw me that morning…not in the wilderness, but in Marsalls.
There is no length that He won’t go to find us.
There is no valley too low that He won’t see us.
There is nothing too simple or mundane for Him to speak to us.
Even through a coffee mug.
Friend, He sees you too.
He sees the sadness. The grief. The doubt. The insecurities. The loneliness. The worry. The fear.
He sees YOU.
Maybe you are feeling very similar to how I was feeling this week…
Talk to Him about it.
Share it all with Him.
He can handle it!
Cry, shout, scream, mope….whatever you need to do! Just talk to Him!
He longs to talk to you.
He longs to soothe you.
He longs to comfort you.
Nothing on earth will ever compare to His love for YOU.
For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty savior.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs.
