Be like Honey…

Honey’s scriptures for her heavenly banana bread

Have you ever wondered what in the world your purpose is?

You are in very good company.

I have had this conversation with countless friends over the years.

We all want to be used by God. We all want to make a difference in our little families and communities.

I have discovered the answer, I believe, is simple.

Love others well.

That is our purpose.

A sweet lady in my neighborhood helped me to come to this conclusion recently.

Honey, this sweet lady, is in my bible study.

She is never without the biggest smile on her face.

She literally radiates Jesus and His love.

There is something also very special about Honey….

She makes the most heavenly banana bread.

No, for real. You have never tasted anything like it!

Honey has made it her ministry to deliver banana bread to anyone in need.

Another neighbor joined our bible study because Honey showed up at her door one day with a loaf of banana bread. The neighbor had a family member going through terrible health troubles, and Honey showed up.

Honey had never met this family, but it did not matter. She showed up, unannounced, and blessed this family with her heavenly bread.

Since I met Honey, I have not stopped being inspired by her.

She attaches scriptures to every piece of banana bread she delivers…such a simple way to share the gospel!

Another thing I have learned about Honey, is that she is always “prepared” to deliver some banana bread.

She is always looking for someone to bless!

My Aunt Debbie was recently diagnosed with some very serious health concerns.

Honey, soon after hearing about my Aunt Debbie, reached out to me to see if she could deliver her some banana bread.

Y’all!!

If you are struggling with your purpose…struggle no more.

Love someone today.

Show up at their door.

Call them or text them.

Pray for them.

You don’t have to make heavenly banana bread to be a blessing to someone.

Just LOVE them well.

That is our purpose!

Our purpose is not about us at all, I am discovering.

It is others focused.

It is loving others.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:34-35

Jesus modeled this so well for us.

The night before his crucifixion, He hosted a dinner for his closest friends.

He washed their feet.

He loved them so well….even the one that did not love Him back. (Judas)

Today, let’s be prepared to love someone well.

Let’s always be ready to serve.

If you are ever in my neighborhood, I would love to introduce you to Honey.

More than likely, she will hand you a loaf of her banana bread. ;)

be like Honey,

jill
