Eyes wide shut…

A couple of weeks ago, I was visiting my favorite TJ Maxx store.

I was on a mission to find some cute little Fall decorations for our home.

Laser focused, I suddenly had to go to the bathroom.

Ugh. I didn’t really have time to go, I had an appointment to be at, and the lines to check out at TJ Maxx are often not the shortest.

I ran to the bathroom, and out of the corner of my eyes I saw a lady washing her hands at the sink.

Dear sweet girl in the baby blue dress…

Dear sweet girl in the baby blue dress,

I saw you at church this past Sunday.

You and some friends were sitting to the right of the stage, I was sitting above you in the balcony section.

When the worship music stopped, I noticed you drying your eyes with a tissue.

You were moved by the music.

One year ago, my Dad was in the hospital.

He was in the hospital for 70 days.

There were many days that we thought he would not pull through.

We, as a family, huddled around him, prayed over him, sang hymns over him, and read scripture over him.

My big, 6’2 strong Dad was whittled down to almost nothing.

That Summer was a hard season.
