Welcome Home…

Years ago, I was sitting at a table in a small bible study at my church.

At the time, I had very very small children.

As we went around and shared our hearts and prayer requests, a lady in her mid-forties spoke up…

She said that she was depressed and bitter over her adult child. Her child had not been good about reaching out to her and it was hurting her feelings.

She went on to say that she had decided to not even try to reach out to them because she felt it was her adult child’s responsibility to pursue her.

With two very small children of my own, I remember feeling sorry for her. I imagined a decade or two later how my life would be. Would my children be too busy for me?

Well, here I am. Around the same age as the lady in that bible study so long ago.

It began when I read this scripture in Luke at the end of November, “If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won't be honest with greater responsibilities.”

As soon as I read it, I closed my bible and went to the Lord in prayer,

“Lord, help me to be faithful in the small things. The little things that may not seem like a big deal are a big deal to YOU. Help me in this, Father.”

Honestly, I did not have anything specific that I was praying for in the little things, but I wanted to be aware and recognize any area that I was not being faithful.

Good morning! I hope all of you had the most wonderful Christmas with your family and friends.

As we approach a brand new year, 2024, I want to challenge you.

Get into God’s Word. Every single day.

On January 1 ,2012, this blog began, formerly called “Shine Girls”.

I was on a quest to read my Bible and I needed some accountability partners.

Nervously, I sent out an email to a handful of friends asking them if they would like to read the Bible with me.

Almost everyone I reached out to said YES.

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.

Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Rescue me from my enemies, O LORD, for I hide myself in you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
